CICW Director Delivers Keynote on Immigration and Child Wellbeing at Latinx Social Work Conference

On September 17, Dr. Kristina Lovato delivered a keynote address at the Latinx National Social Work Conference at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her keynote, “At the Intersection of Immigration and Child Wellbeing: Building Trust, Protecting Families, & Advancing Justice Through Community-Engaged Research,” showcased her research on the experiences of immigrant children and families and the critical role of community-engaged scholarship in strengthening child welfare systems, building trust, and advancing responsive and equitable practice. The keynote brought together research, practice, and community perspectives to highlight opportunities for social workers and institutions to better support immigrant families amid a rapidly changing immigration landscape.
