Iván A. de la Rosa, PhD, LMSW is Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at New Mexico State University. Dr. de la Rosa received his PhD in Social Work and Sociology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1998. His practice background is in crisis intervention counseling among immigrants in New York City and is an experienced program evaluator in the areas of maternal and child health. Dr. de la Rosa’s research focus is violence and trauma, and is particularly interested in the identification of risk and protective factors to the development and evaluation of innovative programs that promote well-being for women and children especially those from US/Mexico borderland communities. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals with particular emphasis in family resilience, substance abuse, violence and trauma. Dr. de la Rosa is the program evaluator for the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso, TX and has a joint appointment as research faculty with the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency program at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
